For personal knowledge, or even help at building, here is a basic information about the seven dwarven clans :
-Longbeards, the oldest clan, Durin was their father, he was the only dwarf that woke alone, in mount gundabad. Longbeards are said to be a little taller than other dwarves, getting more or less 5’1” for males and 4’7” for females. Also they are known for living longer (230-270 for man and 240-280 for woman), the legends tell that Durin the first lived so long that he was called Durin the Deathless (he lived nearly 4500 years). Their appearance is not very different to other dwarves, their eye color includes All shades of Brown, Green and Dark Blue, Their hair lack, Brown, Red and Various shades of Blond. They arent the most peaceful clan, but arent the most warlike either. their weapons are Usually Mattocks and Axes or swords. Their beards are usually never trimmed and grow faster than those of other clans, hence “Longbeards”. Tucking of the beard in ones belt is common. Colorful hats are popular. Their average weight is 170 lbs for man and 140 for woman. Known for their many halls through-out Middle Earth. Great merchants and craftsmen. They also had the biggest ever built dwarven mansion in all middle earth : Moria!
-Firebeards, the supreme smiths, Barin the scarred was their father, he woke in Mallost (Zirakbhund) with the father of the Broadbeam clan (Dwalin's the wise folk) and two dwarven ladies (later their spouses). Firebeards are said to be at the average line, both in weight and high (160 lbs for men and 130 lbs for women, 4’9”for men and 4’5” for women), and also on their lifespan (220-260 for men and 225-265 for women), but yet capable of tremendous display of power. They kinda have a redish complexion for hair and beard color, going from bright red, to light red, and their eye color is usually Pale Brown with light reddish tint. Very peaceful, but yet capable of enormous display of power, usualy attacking "as a whirlwind of skill and fury". Their weapons are Mattocks and Clubs mainly. They are also great axe throwers, usualy taking many to the battle field. They can throw an axe with deadly accuracy and strength to fell a full grown bull, and usualy save the last axe for fighting up close, which they are not only ready, but eager for. Axe throwing even became a comon sport amongs them. Their first home (Kibil-Tarag) was invaded and destroyed by many dragons. Only a few of them found a way to scape thru a back door, which led directly to forodwaith. Suffering on the cold waste, the stiffbeards became more modest with time. After many months of walking they dealed to scape the northern waste and founded their new mansion, Kheled-Dûm.

Their appearance isnt very different of the other dwarven clans. Their eye color includes All shades of Brown, Green and Dark Blue, and the hair color Black, Brown and Dark Blond. Unlike most Dwarves often go prematurely grey before they reach old age. They use Very sober clothing. Prefer helms to hats, very armor oriented clothing. In any ocasion, their favorite weapons are Mattocks and any kind of Axe. Usually in heavy double armor and heavy helms. Have been known to use war-hammers.
